Complex Sentence

also called SUBORDINATED SENTENCE

Subject + predicate + CONNECTOR + Subject + Predicate.

Similar to the COMPOUND SENTENCE, except for the following things:

1. One clause is INDEPENDENT + CONNECTOR + the other clause is DEPENDANT (it doesn´t make sense by itself)

2. This means that one clause is SUBORDINATED to other clause to make sense.

3. You can play with the clauses:

Independent + connector + dependant = The boys didn´t go to the zoo BECAUSE they went to the park.

Connector + dependant (,) + independant = BECAUSE the boys went to the park, they didn´t go to the zoo.

IN THE CHART BELOW , CONJUCTIONS (FAN BOYS) and CONNECTORS are included because all of them function for the transition between clauses.
